Atlanta police are investigating a double shooting that left one person dead Tuesday evening.

Atlanta police homicide commander Lt. Charles Hampton said the incident happened around 5:45 p.m. on the 300 block of Holly Street in northwest Atlanta.

Billy Favors, 27, of Atlanta was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds inside an apartment, he said. Witnesses told police a white car with three men inside was seen leaving the area.

Hampton said one of the men in the car was found shot on the 190 block of West Lake Avenue. The man, believed to be in his 20s, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was in critical condition.

Police say he was not the intended target in the shooting.

The other two men inside the car were detained and are being questioned.

Hampton said the shootings are related, but doesn’t know the relationship between the men.
