Police are looking for a small red vehicle that may have been involved in a fatal shooting on eastbound I-20 in DeKalb County.

About 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers investigating the shooting found a man in his late teens or early 20s dead in another vehicle east of Panola Road, DeKalb police Maj. Stephen Fore told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“Witnesses interviewed believe the shots may have come from a small red vehicle and there is no indication the victim and suspect had any interaction prior to the shooting,” he said. “There is no indication there were shots fired between the two vehicles. The evidence suggests shots only being fired from the suspect vehicle.”

Officials are not ready — at this point in the investigation — to call it a road rage incident, Fore said.

The shooting prompted officials to shut down much of the interstate for hours.

Anyone who may have witnessed the shooting is asked to contact DeKalb police.
