A 19-year-old Kennesaw man was killed Friday afternoon when his motorcycle crashed into the back of a stopped SUV in Cherokee County, authorities said.

The collision happened just before 5:20 p.m. at the intersection of East Cherokee Drive and Mill Creek Road, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Jay Baker said.

Deputies said Gavin Oliver was traveling at a high rate of speed when his bike struck the back of the SUV. He was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Baker said.
