A woman was found shot to death in the bedroom of her Athens home, police said.
Officers were dispatched Monday to the woman’s Sartian Drive residence after getting a report of a shooting, Athens-Clarke County police spokesman Epifanio Rodriguez said.
When they arrived, they found the 22-year-old woman dead from a gunshot wound to the chest. Police don't know if the death was accidental, a homicide or a suicide. While Rodriguez called the death suspicious, he said it was too early to classify it.
The woman’s boyfriend and one other person were home at the time of the shooting, according to police.
“We are questioning those who were in the residence at the time of her death,” Rodriguez said.
