DeKalb County police were called Monday morning to the scene of a deadly shooting on Lehigh Way.

Police are searching for a 23-year-old man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting Monday morning at a home in south DeKalb County.

The unidentified victim was found shot to death in the living room of a residence in the 3500 block of Lehigh Way. Investigators on Wednesday announced that Qamar Williams is wanted on a charge of murder in the man’s death.

According to a police report obtained by AJC.com, Williams was seen standing over the victim’s body by a roommate. The man ran to wake up the victim’s cousin, and the two took the firearm from Williams, forced him out the front door and locked the door behind him, the witness told police.

Officers arrived just before 8:30 a.m. Monday. They found several shell casings and guns throughout the home, which is northwest of Chapel Hill Park near Decatur.

The victim’s cousin said the man had been staying with him for only three or four days before he was killed, according to the police report. It’s possible Williams knew the victim from their time living in Ohio, the man told investigators.
