An Alpharetta man was shot and killed Tuesday night at an apartment complex in the Grant Park neighborhood of Atlanta.

The victim, identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office as 40-year-old Kalema Stubbs, was found shot in a hallway of the Platform Apartments when officers arrived about 7:45 p.m. The recently constructed complex is located on the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Hill Street, two blocks away from Oakland Cemetery.

Stubbs had a gunshot wound to the chest and was in critical condition, according to Atlanta police. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

The case is being investigated as a homicide. Detectives believe the shooting was the result of a narcotics transaction, police Investigator James White told AJC.com.
