A man was killed late Friday in an overnight shootout involving as many as seven people in a southwest Atlanta neighborhood, police said.
The shooting happened just before 11 p.m. outside the Capitol View apartments on Metropolitan Parkway and University Avenue.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday identified the victim as 30-year-old Desmond Finch Jr.
Police don’t have many leads in the case, but witnesses told detectives as many as seven people fired weapons, Channel 2 Action News reported.
“We don’t know what the motive was and we don’t know who those people are at this point,” Atlanta police Lt. Andrea Webster told the news station. “I’m unsure if anybody else was struck, but we are checking hospitals to see if anybody else was injured during the gunfight.”
Bullets riddled the front door of one woman’s home.
Police hope surveillance footage from nearby homes or businesses may help them identify some of the suspects involved.
Anyone with information about the fatal shooting is asked to contact Atlanta police.
