Another sales app meetup went wrong Thursday night when potential buyers allegedly took jewelry for sale and bolted outside a Roswell apartment leasing office, police said.

Officers were investigating gunshots heard in the Roswell Creek Apartments at about 9 p.m. when they saw a car leaving the complex’s recreational trail, according to Roswell police spokesman Sean Thompson. The people in the car told the officers they had just been robbed.

The victims said they were meeting up with buyers to sell them jewelry through the app Offerup, police said. The victims did not call 911 after they were robbed.

It’s not clear to police if the gunshots were related to the robbery, but a 17-year-old boy was struck in the elbow by a stray bullet while he was sitting on his porch in the same apartment complex, Thompson said.

He was treated at WellStar North Fulton Hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, Thompson said.

The search continues for the suspects.
