A 23-year-old Stone Mountain woman was arrested Tuesday night after a standoff with DeKalb County police that lasted more than three hours.

Police were at the Waterford Manor Apartments in Decatur about 6 p.m. Tuesday night when Mary Kilpatrick spotted them, ran and barricaded herself in one of the units, DeKalb police Maj. Stephen Fore said Wednesday. Kilpatrick is a suspect in an armed robbery.

After several hours of attempted negotiations, the SWAT team moved in and used several canisters of gas to breach the front door of the unit, Fore said.

The standoff ended about 9:30 p.m. with Kilpatrick’s arrest.

She was in the DeKalb County jail on armed robbery and kidnapping charges, according to online records.

No other details were released.
