A man police say robbed a Norcross hotel after doing work there earlier the same day was arrested Saturday when an officer spotted him while checking a local parking lot.
Joshua Evontay Hall, 29, who was wanted on charges of robbery by sudden snatching, was arrested around 3 a.m. at a parking lot on Holcomb Bridge Road, Gwinnett County police said.
While doing an “area check” in the parking lot, the officer saw a white van with two people inside and a man police later identified as Hall standing outside the van, Gwinnett police Cpl. Michele Pihera said.
“He was immediately detained and taken to the Gwinnett County jail,” Pihera said.
The woman inside the van, Karen Ann Lupton, was also arrested on a probation violation for prostitution, Pihera said. The man inside the van with Lupton was released at the scene.
Hall is accused of stealing several hundred dollars from a Comfort Inn and Suites where he earlier worked.
The hotel manager who hired Hall after he said he was homeless paid him $20 and a pizza for his work, police said. But Hall returned to the business on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard to demand more money, Pihera said.
When the manager refused to pay, a man police identified as Hall jumped onto the counter, opened the cash drawer and stole the money, surveillance video showed.
