Someone broke into a Newnan charity and took items meant for Christmas gifts.
Alison Wallace told Channel 2 Action News four burglars were caught on surveillance cameras when they broke into the Bridging the Gap storehouse on First Street in Newnan.
The video showed the burglars going straight for the bicycles and gifts for needy children during the holidays.
“They had been sitting out for a while, just watching and covered up the outside cameras and pulled masks on the face, which is really scary,” Wallace said.
But the burglars left the cash behind.
“There was other items, a guitar, TV, some other food and beverage items, were taken as well,” Lt. Tate Washington said.
Newnan police quickly recovered some of the stolen bicycles, which were left on nearby train tracks, Channel 2 reported.
Wallace said thanks to donations of toys, she’s hoping none of the 1,300 children on her list will go without a gift.
“It never ceases to amaze me,” Wallace said. “This community here in Coweta County is fantastic. They always step up to the plate.”
