A former Henry County corrections officer was sentenced to 15 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to three counts of child molestation Monday, authorities said.
Saul Torrella Rodriguez, 38, will also have to register as a sex offender, spend three years on probation following his prison time and never contact the victim again, the Henry County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
He pleaded guilty to inappropriately touching a child who was younger than 16, the release said. He molested the child at a home in Stockbridge in 2013 and 2014.
The child told authorities in 2017 about the molestation and that Rodriguez had moved to Florida after working as a corrections officer, the release said. The victim did not meet Rodriguez through his work at the sheriff’s office.
“This resolution was supported by the victim and her family,” Henry County District Attorney Darius Pattillo said in the release. “They told the judge they have peace in their lives now that the defendant entered a guilty plea and was sentenced.”
