The soft lockdown at Dacula High School and Dacula Middle School was lifted about 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, a Gwinnett County school official said.

The condition was placed on the schools about 10:40 a.m. because a student may have had a weapon on the high school campus.

Authorities captured the person, which allowed the lockdown to be lifted, said Sloan Roach, communications director for Gwinnett schools. Further details were not available.

The high school was able to dismiss classes on time and proceed with extracurricular activities as scheduled, Roach said.

A soft lockdown means students can move within the school but can’t go outside.
