Police are searching for a driver they say hit a pedestrian in Gwinnett County over the weekend and left him with serious injuries.

About 7 p.m. Saturday, police responded to Pleasant Hill Road at Club Drive and found an injured man in the middle of the street, Gwinnett police said in a news release. The victim, identified as Aurelio Peneda, suffered serious injuries.

He told officers he was trying to cross the street when he was struck by a vehicle, whose driver left the scene, the release said. There were no witnesses, and police said the incident was not captured on any surveillance cameras.
