Gwinnett police have arrested a man in the stabbing death of his girlfriend’s sister.

Erin McKinney, 25, died from the wounds she received in the incident early Monday morning at the Oakbrook Pointe Apartment complex on Pirkle Road near Norcross, Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said in a news release issued Monday afternoon.

Alfredo Hilario Allen, 40, was charged with murder and two counts of aggravated assault and was taken to the Gwinnett County jail. He is being held without bond.

Allen’s girlfriend, Candice McKinney, 30, also was stabbed during the altercation but survived and was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center. She had non-life threatening injuries and was treated and released

According to detectives, Erin McKinney and Allen got into an argument inside the apartment shortly before 3 a.m., Pihera said. When Allen stabbed her multiple times, she yelled, and Candice McKinney awoke and came to see what was happening. Allen then stabbed her as Erin McKinney hid in a closet.

Allen left the apartment and Erin McKinney called 911, describing the car he was driving, Pihera said. Officers spotted the vehicle on Steve Reynolds Blvd. near Beaver Ruin Road, pulled it over and took Allen into custody.
