Two men attempted to rob a Gwinnett County restaurant manager at gunpoint Sunday morning, but got nothing for their efforts — except for the attention of authorities.
Gwinnett County police released Wednesday surveillance photos of the suspects in the would-be robbery at the Golden Corral at 3888 Stone Mountain Highway near Snellville. The manager told authorities that he was closing up around 1 a.m. Sunday when he was “physically attacked” by two armed men, who forced him back inside the restaurant and into the office area.
“When the manager was having difficulty opening the safe, the suspect fired one shot in close proximity to the victim’s head,” police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said in a news release. “A few moments later, and after the manager still couldn’t open the safe, the suspect fired another shot.”
The suspects then ran away empty-handed.
Both men are described as between 18 and 25 years old, around 5-foot-8 and roughly 185 pounds.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact Gwinnett police detectives at 770-513-5302 or 770-513-5300. Tipsters can also remain anonymous — and be eligible for rewards up to $2,000 — by contacting Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS or crimestoppersatlanta.org.
