Police in Athens are investigating the shooting death of a 30-year-old social worker.

Officers responding to a residence on Airport Road about 3 a.m. Sunday found Natania Jarrad with a gunshot wound to her head, Athens-Clarke County police spokesman Epifanio Rodriguez said.

She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Jarrad was a social worker with Athens-based Advantage Behavioral Health Systems, the Athens Banner-Herald reported.

“Natania was intelligent, authentic and compassionate, down to earth, honest and industrious,“ company CEO Oliver J. Booker told the newspaper.

She lived with her fiance, who called 911, according to the newspaper.

Jarrad’s body was sent to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy.

No arrests have been made in the case.

Donald Trump's administration deployed the military to Washington, D.C., in the name of fighting crime, and in an Aug. 11 news conference he mentioned the possibility of military being sent to other large American cities, all of which are led by Black, Democratic mayors. And while Atlanta wasn't included in Trump's list, the city fits that profile under Mayor Andre Dickens. (Photo Illustration: Philip Robibero / AJC | Source: Getty)
