Authorities are searching for a gunman accused of shooting a man in the driveway of his DeKalb County home, Channel 2 Action News reported.

About 2 p.m. Sunday, the victim was fixing a tire on his sister’s car in his Glen Haven Circle driveway when someone walked up to him and tried to rob him, according to Channel 2.

The two got into a struggle over the victim’s watch and jewelry, Channel 2 reported. After the man was shot, he ran inside his home and screamed for his sister to call 911.

Police said the shooter got away.

He is in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital.

The shooting shocked neighbors. They described the victim as a nice guy who helped save a neighbor’s home from burning down to the ground.

“It’s really, really sad for someone to just want to walk up and hurt someone who was minding their own business,” neighbor Vicki Taylor said.
