Gun ‘accidentally’ put in student’s bag found at metro Atlanta school

A student at KIPP Strive primary school in Atlanta told her teacher she found a gun in her bag Thursday morning, officials said.

School officials immediately called police, who investigated about 9:45 a.m., Atlanta police spokeswoman Officer Lisa Bender said.

“Our understanding is that the gun was accidentally put in the student’s bag before departing to school,” school spokeswoman Callie Hudak said. “We are grateful for the student for notifying her teacher immediately.”
