A 911 call about a group of armed people in a parking lot led Atlanta police to a cache of guns and a stolen AR-15, police said.

Atlanta police Major Paul Guerrucci said when officers “rolled up” to a group on Delmar Lane Tuesday night, several people had guns.

A search warrant was issued, which allowed the officers to recover five handguns and an AR-15 that Guerrucci said was confirmed stolen out of Doraville. Officers also found large amounts of alcohol — at least 50 cases of beer of three different brands — and a small amount of marijuana.

Eight to ten people were detained and several of those were arrested on weapons and other charges, Guerrucci said.

Officers on Thursday said an official police report was not yet completed and names of those arrested could not be confirmed. Police also declined to confirm the exact location on Delmar Lane where the search warrant was executed.
