Expectant mother Chiquita Pitts had just gotten everything she needed to welcome baby Carter home.
But not long after her gifts had been loaded into her fiance’s car Saturday, two men in a dark-colored Kia Sportage stole them, Channel 2 Action News reported. The couple had just left their baby shower at a venue on Nelson Avenue in southwest Atlanta.
Pitts told the news station the thieves lifted the chrome and picked the locks.
“The guy was just pulling stuff from (my fiance’s car) to his car,” she said. “He was just pulling stuff.”
The fiance yelled for the two men to put down the items, but they ran to their car and drove away, Pitts said in a GoFundMe post.
They made off with diapers, high chairs, car seats and other gifts for Pitts’ baby boy.
Police have dusted Pitts’ car for fingerprints, but there were cameras that captured the theft.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to help Pitts repurchase stolen items.
