An Augusta woman has received a five-year prison sentence for stealing $1.7 million from her ex-husband’s construction company, the Augusta Chronicle reported.

Heather Boggus was a bookeeper at Jeb Boggus Construction from 2007-15, according to the report. She married Jeb Boggus in October 2013, and they were divorced in March 2015.

Heather Boggus covered her theft by saying she was collecting an inheritance of about $50,000 a month, the paper reported. The stolen money was used to pay for lavish possessions, a helicopter, and yachts.

Also, Jeb Boggus discovered that the pregnancy and miscarriage Heather Boggus told him about were both faked, the paper reported.

After her guilty plea, a Columbia County judge also ordered the woman to pay restitution of $1,732,296.
