GBI agents search the Rossville residence of a Fort Oglethorpe police officer.

A northwest Georgia police officer has been put on leave after the GBI searched the officer’s residence, according to multiple reports.

The GBI confirmed that its Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force served a warrant Tuesday at a residence in Rossville, about 110 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta, the Chattanooga Times Free Press reported.

“GBI executed a search warrant on a Fort Oglethorpe police officer’s home where other occupants reside,” GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles said.

Lindsay Marchant, the GBI agent in charge of the task force, wouldn’t identify the officer or any other potential suspects.

"It's still ongoing," Marchant told the newspaper. "We're still determining who may or may not be involved."

No arrests have been made, Miles said. The Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search.
