A Middle Georgia mother was arrested Tuesday after authorities accused her of intentionally killing her 3-month-old.

Nickolas James-Campbell Bryan was found unresponsive in June, lying face down between couch cushions at a home in Bibb County, authorities said. Investigators determined he could not have put himself in that position on his own, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

His mother, 22-year-old Rebecca Taylor Kipp, turned herself in Tuesday morning at the county jail in Macon. She is being held without bond on a charge of malice murder.

“Investigators looked into several statements given by the mother and other evidence at the scene” before determining the charge, the sheriff’s office said on Facebook.

The baby was pronounced dead June 11 at a home on Regina Drive in suburban Macon. He was discovered by his grandmother around 1:30 p.m.

A GBI autopsy found his cause of death was sudden, but the manner of death is still undetermined, Bibb County coroner Leon Jones told AJC.com. The incident remains under investigation, authorities said.

Anyone with information should call the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
