Georgia man allegedly raped, threatened woman in wooded area

A Rome man is in jail without bond in connection with a rape that allegedly occurred Sunday, the Rome News-Tribune reported.

Devorsky Ismale Whatley, 25, attacked a woman in a wooded area in the Mount Aventine community, police said.

Whatley allegedly held the woman at knifepoint and threatened to kill her before the sexual assault, according to the report.

He’s charged with felony rape and other offenses, the newspaper reported.
