A Winder man has been arrested after his 3-month-old child was found by hospital officials to have head trauma and bone fractures, police said.
Stephen Lee Pritchett, 31, of a Settle Street address, has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery and two counts of first-degree cruelty to children, spokesman Lt. Chris Cooper said.
Pritchett was abusive with the child on multiple occasions, according to the investigation, Cooper said.
Police responded Wednesday about 10 p.m. after the child’s mother took the infant to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite with a possible head injury, Cooper said. Hospital officials alerted police after the injuries were discovered.
Police then went to Pritchett’s residence to conduct a welfare check on other children in the home, and Barrow County children’s services officials got involved, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
