A northwest Georgia family is devastated after finding their dog dead with a broken arrow through the heart.

Josh Jarrell and wife Mollie noticed Sadie, their black Labrador retriever, was missing last week, according to Channel 2 Action News.

They started searching for her when they could no longer hear her bark.

On Sunday, the Floyd County couple found Sadie’s body in a wooded area about 50 yards from her pen.

Josh Jarrell said it appeared someone tried to wrench the arrow from the dog’s body, but only succeeded in breaking off the end.

“To find her like this, that broke me,” he said. “It really did.”

Jarrell told Channel 2 he hopes deputies can lift fingerprints or a serial number from the remaining part of the arrow.

He also posted a Justice for Sadie GoFundMe page to raise reward money to help catch her killer.

“I want to see justice,” Jarrell said. “I want them to answer for their crimes.”
