A former high school custodian in northeast Georgia has received a prison sentence of four years and three months for recording videos of girls in the locker room.

Former Oconee County High custodian Timothy Brian Burnette, 41, pleaded guilty to federal charges of attempted possession of child pornography, the Athens Banner-Herald reported.

Burnette reportedly told Oconee County sheriff’s investigators after being arrested that he had attempted to make videos a dozen or more times. He had worked for the school system about six months before being fired in the wake of the arrest in January.

Authorities said two students found Burnette’s cellphone and turned it over to school officials, the Banner-Herald reported.

A search of his phone reportedly revealed numerous photographs, internet searches and tabs that were pornographic in nature.

“Every child deserves a safe, secure place to attend school,” U.S. Attorney Charles Peeler said in a statement.
