A Gwinnett father and four of his children will be laid to rest Thursday night at a funeral mass in Lawrenceville.

Thirty-three-year-old Martin Romero and children Axel, 1, Dillan, 4, Dacota, 6 and Isabela Martinez, 10, were stabbed to death last week in their Loganville home. Nine-year-old daughter Diana Romero survived the attack and is recovering from her wounds at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Isabel Martinez, Romero’s wife and the mother of his children, has been charged with the murders. Attorney Robert Greenwald, appointed over the objections of Martinez, who wished to represent herself, said Monday that he plans to request a psychological evaluation of his client.

The funeral mass, which will be conducted in Spanish, will begin at 7:30 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. The family is expected to issue a statement to the media before the services.
