April 25, 2014 changed April Ross’ life forever.

The Fulton County prosecutor was sitting in a car that day with a former co-worker when they were shot multiple times by her estranged husband, Tranard McConnell. Hours later, McConnell fatally shot himself.

Since then, Ross, who is paralyzed from the chest down, has been on a long road to recovery.

And now, she is ready to return to work, Channel 2 Action News reported Friday. Her plan is to be back at the DA’s office next month.

“They’re in the process of working on my office and putting some modifications in for me,” she told Channel 2.

Ross was shot three times — in her face, right forearm and back.

“I filed for divorce April 23, gave him the papers April 24 and this happened April 25,” she previously told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “And I can tell you I never thought something like this would ever happen.”

Ross had surgery this week on her arm, with intense therapy to follow to help her regain strength and mobility, Channel 2 said.

“I do believe I will walk again,” she said. “I am faithful that I will walk again.”
