A south Fulton County man now faces a murder charge because a 2-year-old child he is accused of beating has died, Palmetto police reported Friday.
William Gaddy, 20, was arrested Tuesday on aggravated battery charges, but the 2-year-old victim died at Children’s Hospital of Atlanta at Egleston on Friday, Sgt. Lee Gragg said.
Police went to Tiffany Lane on Tuesday afternoon concerning a child who was unconscious and unresponsive. Paramedics determined the child "appeared to be suffering from obvious signs of blunt force trauma," according to Gragg.
The victim had been beaten on her body and head, and Gaddy, who was caring for the girl, admitted to causing the injuries, Gragg said.
