A man wanted in 11 armed robberies in Georgia, Alabama and Florida was arrested Monday in Mississippi during a traffic stop, FBI Atlanta spokesman Kevin Rowson said.

John Arthur Morris, 47, had been on a crime spree since January, officials said. It’s believed he robbed nine businesses in Columbus, one in Alabama and another in Florida.

In most of the incidents, Morris aimed a gun at victims, forced them into a back room or office and tied them up with zip ties or a telephone cord, according to an FBI release. On one occasion, Morris allegedly robbed a restaurant and forced the manager to drive him a few blocks away in her car.

He may have had a female accomplice, but Rowson did not say if the woman was with Morris when he was arrested.

Morris had several warrants out for his arrest, with the most recent stemming from a charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, according to the release.
