Two people from metro Atlanta were arrested in Massachusetts on Friday after police said they were planning to sell guns to gang members.

Darius T. Parker, 27, of Lithonia, and Tyana Cruz, 25, of Decatur, were taken into custody after a traffic stop, according to Sgt. John Delaney of Springfield, Mass., police.

Police learned that Parker, formerly of Springfield, was staying with a relative and was driving a car with a Georgia license, Delaney said. Officers placed the residence under surveillance and later followed the car before initiating the traffic stop.

Police said they found two loaded guns and ammunition in the car.

Parker and Cruz were charged with two counts of carrying a loaded firearm, two counts of possession of a high capacity firearm, possession of ammunition and receiving a stolen firearm.

One of the guns was reported stolen in Atlanta.

Parker and Cruz are scheduled to appear in court Monday in Springfield.
