A former Hall County computer worker allegedly corrupted the county government’s website and network after he’d left his job.

Paul Herriott was charged with computer trespass, Hall County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Deputy Nicole Bailes said Thursday.

Herriott allegedly accessed the network without permission on Oct. 1 for reasons that are unclear.

He worked for the county's Management Information Systems Department, which provides computer network security and connectivity, for more than 10 years before his position was eliminated in June, county officials told the Gainesville Times.

He was booked into jail Monday and later posted a $16,700 bond, the Gainesville paper said.
