A former high school teacher and police officer pleaded guilty to sex trafficking of a minor Friday.

Tracy Wayne Crosby, 42, of Waycross, was the criminal justice teacher at Ware County High School and a part-time police officer with Pierce County, according to a Department of Justice news release.

Crosby admitted to using his cell phone to communicate with a 16-year-old boy online, who he agreed to have sex with in exchange for $10, the release said. Camden County law enforcement arrested Crosby when he was with the boy, and he admitted he had sex more than once with the boy.

He faces a minimum of 10 years in prison and up to life in prison, the release said. If he’s released from prison, he would be required to register as a sex offender.

Crosby is incarcerated awaiting his sentencing hearing, the release said.
