A former high school teacher and police officer pleaded guilty to sex trafficking of a minor Friday.

Tracy Wayne Crosby, 42, of Waycross, was the criminal justice teacher at Ware County High School and a part-time police officer with Pierce County, according to a Department of Justice news release.

Crosby admitted to using his cell phone to communicate with a 16-year-old boy online, who he agreed to have sex with in exchange for $10, the release said. Camden County law enforcement arrested Crosby when he was with the boy, and he admitted he had sex more than once with the boy.

He faces a minimum of 10 years in prison and up to life in prison, the release said. If he’s released from prison, he would be required to register as a sex offender.

Crosby is incarcerated awaiting his sentencing hearing, the release said.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
