Atlanta homicide investigators were canvassing a southeast Atlanta neighborhood on Monday after a shooting in the middle of the day.

Just before 1 p.m., police found an unresponsive man with multiple gunshot wounds in the 1000 block of Hilburn Drive, Atlanta police Officer Lukasz Sajdak told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The man was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died.

The “preliminary investigation revealed that the unidentified victim was walking on Hilburn Drive with another male when the shooting occurred,” Sajdak said.

Police were looking for a vehicle in connection with the shooting.

“Possibly black in color seen backing up after the gunshots and fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed,” Atlanta police Lt. Charles Hampton told Channel 2 Action News.

Hampton asked anyone who saw or heard anything to call Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS.

The victim’s name and other details were not released.
