A southwest Atlanta woman with an upcoming birthday received a package with a birthday note in it.

But the package, which came via UPS, also contained 20 sealed packages of marijuana, police said.

When the woman discovered what was inside, she called 911.

Police said the package had several incorrect delivery attempts. It originated in Arizona, then journeyed to Washington state and Douglasville before arriving in Atlanta.

The bags were vacuum-sealed, making detecting the pot by smell difficult.

The sender and/or the intended recipient filed a claim with UPS for a lost package, police said.

Police are continuing to investigate.
