A car dealership employee was fired and arrested after he led Johns Creek police on a 100-mph chase in a Mercedes-Benz E350, officials say.
Frederick Spry was hired a few months ago to drive cars from dealership to dealership, according to Channel 2 Action News. But at some point after he was hired, he lost his driver’s license.
That's why he didn't stop for police June 16 when an officer tried to pull him over on State Bridge Road in Johns Creek. The officer stopped chasing him when speeds exceeded 100 mph, but Capt. Chris Byers told Channel 2 the "test drive" tag on the car was a big clue for detectives.
Byers said an investigator found a photograph of the Mercedes in an online ad and showed the car for sale at Roswell Mitsubishi, which is located on Alpharetta Highway.
Dealership spokeswoman Jennifer Byrd told Channel 2 that Spry was fired as soon as they learned about the police chase and they worked with Johns Creek police during the investigation.
Spry is charged with fleeing and eluding police, reckless driving, speeding and driving without a license.
