The man who allegedly stole a woman's car at a Dunkin' Donuts drive-thru has turned himself in, Forsyth County authorities said.
Wayne Christopher Alford, 19, of Atlanta, surrendered at the Forsyth County jail on Wednesday, sheriff’s spokesman Epifanio Rodriguez said. No bond has been set. The suspect is charged with two counts of robbery — carjacking and forcible purse snatching.
Alford was sought in connection with a July 8 incident on McGinnis Ferry Road, deputies said. About 7:20 p.m., a man forced a woman out of her car, a Toyota Rav4, then drove eastbound toward Gwinnett County, according to the Forsyth County sheriff’s incident report.
The woman told deputies the man reached through the open driver-side window, unlocked the door, grabbed her by her hair and forced her to the ground, according to the report.
She ran to a nearby church and called police, the report said.
The incident was captured on surveillance video.
The car later was found about a mile away in front of a residence in Riverwalk Landing. Deputies said they used the victim’s “find my iPhone” feature to track the car.
Authorities identified Alford from a fingerprint in the car, according to the report.
Alford had fled the Riverwalk Landing area in a car driven by a woman, witnesses told deputies.
