Two brothers were arrested after authorities found illegal drugs, including fentanyl and suspected LSD, during a search in Forsyth County, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
Zackary Christopher Berrong, 25, and Charles Trenton Berrong, 20, ran a business in which large amounts of illegal drugs were bought and redistributed online, Forsyth County sheriff’s spokesman Doug Rainwater said.
On March 20, deputies and federal agents searched an address in the 2000 block of Pinecrest Place in Cumming, Rainwater said. A hazmat team also was on the scene due to safety concerns regarding fentanyl and the possibility of exposure to officers.
Authorities also found cathinone, diazepam and butylone, most of which were in powder form, Rainwater said.
Some of the drugs were “research chemicals,” Rainwater said, which duplicate the effects of illegal drugs. Some are legal, but they are not all meant for human consumption.
The men were booked into the Forsyth County jail without bond, Rainwater said. They are charged with three counts of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance with intent to distribute, and possession of drug-related objects.
