Deputies investigated a fatal wreck Friday afternoon in Cherokee County.

Deputies are investigating a rollover crash in Cherokee County that  killed a 25-year-old woman and left her young daughter in the hospital Friday afternoon.

About 2:30 p.m., deputies responded to the scene off I-575 near Airport Drive, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. An SUV was found in the woods off the side of the interstate.

The SUV was traveling northbound before it went off the pavement, rolled several times and struck a tree, deputies said.

The driver, identified Saturday morning as 25-year-old Ashley Faucett of Jasper, was taken to North Fulton Hospital with serious injuries. She later died, sheriff’s office spokesman Capt. Jay Baker said.

Her 6-year-old daughter was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite with non-life-threatening injuries. The child’s name was not released.

Witnesses told deputies there was some type of altercation between Faucett and the driver of a dark-colored vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Cruze, that potentially played a role in the wreck, Baker said. Investigators want to speak to that vehicle’s driver.

Anyone with information about the fatal crash is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 678-310-4140.
