A driver died after a train smashed the front of her car at a railroad crossing Friday morning in south Fulton County, according to Channel 2 Action News.

State troopers found Mildred Brookshire, 53, of Newnan, dead inside the car at the intersection of Highway 29 and Vine Street in Palmetto, Channel 2 reported.

Investigators told Channel 2 there were no stop arms or flashing lights where Brookshire attempted to cross the tracks, but troopers are not sure why she didn’t see or hear the southbound train coming.

A pet in the car survived the crash, according to Channel 2.

No other details were released.
