One man was killed and another was in critical condition when their car hit two trees early Saturday in DeKalb County, police said.

The 2007 Lexus was traveling “at a high rate of speed” when the driver lost control on Mountain View Drive near Brittany Drive, police spokeswoman Shiera Campbell said.

The driver was dead at the scene, according to the DeKalb Medical Examiner’s office.

The only passenger was unconscious and breathing when officers and medical crews arrived, Campbell said. He was taken to a hospital.

Neither man had identification.

The investigation continues into the crash.
