Fifty-nine dogs — including one that needs an eye removed — were seized this week from a single Hall County mobile home, officials said.

Hall County government spokeswoman Katie Crumley said animal control officers found the dogs Tuesday after executing a search warrant at a mobile home on the 8400 block of Romey Savage Road. Several had unaddressed medical issues and all had to be treated for “excessive flea bites,” officials said.

There were also “sanitation issues” and “issues with air quality” inside the home.

Officials said Wednesday that 39 of the dogs already had been treated and were ready for adoption. The rest will need to spend some time recuperating with rescue groups before being put up for adoption, officials said.

“One of them needs to have an eye removed, but he’s incredibly sweet and could be adopted right away,” animal shelter veterinarian Dr. Meghan Seabolt said in a news release.

Richard Vaught and Kimberly Halulka, the couple living in the mobile home where they dogs were found, were arrested and charged with cruelty to animals, Crumley said.
