Burglars didn’t take money or jewelry when they broke into a Gwinnett County dog breeder’s home Monday.

But Dena Fidanza told AJC.com her dog, a Cavalier King Charles spaniel valued at more than $2,000, was nowhere to be found.

Fidanza said the dog, named “KC,” sires many of the puppies she breeds.

Right now, he’s the only breeding sire she has.

“We have five dogs in the house, but because we stop breeding them when they turn 10, he was the only one breeding,” she said.

Fidanza reported the dog stolen to Gwinnett police. A police report obtained by AJC.com indicates there was no forced entry into the garage. Fidanza told police she left the remote to the garage in her car, and the car was unlocked.

“They left everything else just the way it was,” Fidanza said. “You would never know anyone had been there.”

Authorities urge anyone with information about the stolen dog to call Gwinnett police.
