After local citizens told authorities they saw a dog being pulled behind a truck, a 70-year-old man was charged with felony animal cruelty, according to multiple reports.

Emory Junior Samples was arrested Monday afternoon, Forsyth County sheriff’s spokesman Doug Rainwater said.

Witnesses reported the truck’s license plate number, and deputies tracked down the vehicle on Martin Road.

The dog was found in the woods and needed immediate medical attention, which deputies helped with, according to Rainwater.

Deputies think the dog got out of Samples’ yard and he tied the dog to the truck to walk it home, according to the reports.

Samples has bonded out of the Forsyth County jail.
