Forsyth County sheriff’s deputies did not find the man they were searching for Friday in connection with reported mail thefts from residences.

But they sent the man a warning via Facebook.

“Soon, and I say soon, we are going to give you a free ride back to Forsyth County with ALL expenses paid! Enjoy your few moments of freedom,” the agency said in the post.

“Sincerely, The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.”

Friday morning, deputies began pursuing a car off McFarland Parkway after residents reported the people in the car were stealing mail, sheriff’s spokesman Doug Rainwater said.

The people abandoned the car in a subdivision, and a woman was taken into custody, Rainwater said. The man ran away, and officers searched with a police dog and had help from a Georgia State Patrol helicopter.

Surveillance photos later showed the man at a Waffle House, deputies said.

“New evidence is showing that it is possible he was able to get a ride out of the area,” according to the Facebook post.

The agency also said on Facebook that the car the people were using was stolen.
