DeKalb man allegedly drives stolen Mercedes 60 mph over speed limit

A DeKalb County man was arrested in Hall County for allegedly driving a stolen car nearly 60 mph over the speed limit Friday, authorities said.

Abdon Tamar Ibrahim, 33, of Decatur, was driving a stolen 2011 Mercedes-Benz S550 on Thompson Bridge Road north of Gainesville, according to a Hall County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Deputies pulled him over around Dunlap Landing Road and said he was traveling more than 100 mph, the release said.

Two adult passengers were released by deputies, the release said.

Ibrahim faces charges of felony theft, speeding, reckless driving and obstruction of an officer, according to Hall County Jail records. He is also charged with no proof of insurance and removing a license plate.

Ibrahim is being held on a $8,560 bond, according to jail records.
