A DeKalb County high school special education teacher is behind bars Friday after being accused of taking drugs into the Atlanta airport, authorities said.
Raheema Cox, 44, of Atlanta, was one of two suspects arrested by Clayton County officers Friday morning inside Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, Channel 2 Action News reported. Police have not released the second suspect's name.
Cox is a teacher at Southwest DeKalb High School, the DeKalb County School District confirmed. A district spokesperson told Channel 2 that Cox has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the investigation’s outcome.
As of Friday night, he remained in the Clayton County Jail without bond on three charges, online jail records show. He’s accused of providing officers with a false name in addition to two drug charges, including possession of marijuana.
It’s unclear where he and the second suspect were attempting to fly, Channel 2 reported.
Clayton County police have not released any arresting documents or further information on this case, saying it’s an ongoing investigation. More arrests are possible in this investigation, Channel 2 reported.
