The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has confirmed the name of a man whose badly decomposed body was found in a wooded area on Ridge Road in Paulding County on July 3.

The man has been identified as Joshua Andrew Holmes, 25, of Dallas, said Ashley Henson, spokesperson for the Paulding County Sheriff’s office in a news release issued Friday.

The GBI, which used DNA and tattoos to identify Holmes, said there were no obvious signs of trauma on his body, and detectives do not believe there is anything suspicious about his death, according to Henson, although the matter is still under investigation.

Holmes was found behind a residence on Ridge Road. A neighbor had reported seeing what appeared to be a body. An autopsy was performed and detectives spoke with several neighbors and residents in the area in an effort to make an identification.
